Verdant Brewery launches £25k crowdfunding bid for new seafood bar
Falmouth-based brewer Verdant has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £25,000 towards opening a new seafood bar and tap room.
On the crowdfunding site, the Cornish brewery stated that it had now “come to the point where we have maximised all the space available to us in order to be able to brew and package as much beer as possible”.
Given the town’s coastal location, Verdant wants to create a “relaxed space” for people to sample its beers “alongside some super fresh, simple but amazing seafood”.
It is planning on serving a tapas style selection of marine delicacies to accompany its hop forward pale ales, IPAs and DIPAs.
Verdant hope to open in time for the holiday season which starts at Easter, and in order to meet its deadline, it requires funds to pay a team of designers, managers, cooks and painters.
The brewery has already located a fully-licensed site in the town which it plans to convert into its bar and tap room. The tap room will not take bookings and visitors are instead encouraged to just show up, “hang around for a pint and wait for a space or simply eat standing up”.
After setting up the drive on 30 January, Verdant has so far raised 30% of its target (£7,595) with 74 contributors.
Last year, the brewer also received a £20,000 investment from online craft beer retailer Honest Brew to buy new fermentation tanks, helping it to increase its capacity.
