Called Fare, the 4,500 sq ft all-day dining site, due to open in June, will serve affordable sourdough pizzas alongside coffee roasted for the site by Assembly Coffee.
According to Eater, Fare will be “a faster paced version of Caravan” with a focus on healthy, plant-based ingredients. Inspired by Tartine Manufactory in San Francisco, the project will begin a crowdfunding cycle in two weeks.
As well as the coffee shop, there will be a horseshoe-shaped marble pizza counter on the ground floor, a downstairs bar and a courtyard with seating for 50.
Keen for it to be affordable, cocktails will start at £5, while wines begin at £4 a glass. Both will be available on tap and the bar will carbonate its own sodas.
“Why can’t you get a pizza with an amazing drink? That’s what we’re taking on. We want to give the people of Clerkenwell what they deserve. If we attract people from across London then that’s a bonus,” Sager told Eater London.
