Magnums of Burgundy to lead Sotheby’s sale in NYC
Sotheby’s first fine wine sale of 2018 will feature over 500 lots of top names from across Bordeaux, Burgundy, Spain, Italy and Napa.
Noteworthy lots going under the hammer at the 24 February sale include magnums of Dujac, Mugnier and Roumier, an “incredible array” of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Petrus spanning 1964-99 and Vega Sicilia’s ‘Unico’ from 1942 to 1994.
Champagne lovers should also keep any eye out for magnums of Dom Pérignon Oenothèque and Krug Collection 1964 and Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 1996 while those collectors of classic Napa and Sonoma wines can bid on Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 1975, magnums of the 1977 and Heitz Cellar Martha’s Vineuard Cabernet Sauvignon 1974.
In a further sign of the ever-increasing popularity of whisky, the sale will also feature Black Bowmore Single Malt 1942 Years1964 and Pappy Van Winkle Private Reserve 20 and 23 year Bourbon.
