Bottega launched in Shanghai Pudong airport
Italian wine brand Bottega has officially launched at Shanghai Pudong Airport in partnership with the Chinese group Sunrise, making it the only Italian wine brand available at the airport, according to the company.
“We are already present in most Asian countries’ domestic markets, but this is an outstanding commercial achievement for our company, because it is the only Italian wine brand present on the shelves of the Duty Free stores of Shanghai airport,” commented Sandro Bottega, owner and managing director of Bottega, on the launch.
The range of the Bottega products sold at stores at Terminals 1 and 2 of Pudong encompasses the sparkling wines such as Bottega Gold, Rose Gold and White Gold and the crystal- encrusted Bottega Stardust, in addition to a selection of red wines including Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico, and popular spirits like Limoncino, Gin Bacûr, Pistacchio.
Travel retail is responsible for a sizeable amount of volume sales of the company’s overall sales. Its products are currently listed in the catalogues of more than fifty airlines and globally present at all of the most important duty free shops.
In 2017, the sales volume generated by Duty Free and Travel Retail business accounted for 32% of the overall export turnover, an increase of 2% compared to the previous year.
Italian wines in generally account for less than 6% of China’s market, tailing behind France, Australia, Chile and Spain.
