Delaware brewery prepares for the apocalypse with $45 survival beer
The Belgian-style fruity ale comes equipped with a Swiss army knife and a solar blanket for the modern-day Robinson Crusoe.
With Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un debating the size of their nuclear buttons, the end may indeed by nigh. Thanks to Delaware brewery Dogfish Head however, we can at least sit back with a cold beer as the mushroom cloud blooms.
A limited run of 200 750ml bottles of Dogfish Head’s new beer It’s the End of the Wort as We Know It will be available from 27 January priced at $45. The ingredients include blueberries, acai, goji berries, purple sweet potatoes, chia sees and quinoa – all designed to keep you in good health as you trudge through the nuclear wasteland.
Aside from much-needed refreshment, the beer comes with a Swiss army knife, a solar blanket for keeping the beer cool in the great outdoors and a paracord tying the blanket to the bottle, to be used as a tourniquet in emergencies.
Dogfish Founder and CEO Sam Calagione said on the company website: “We’re pretty pumped that a super-unique, nutrient-rich ‘survivor’ beer was born out of a brew day amongst friends originating from one of my favourite conversation starter questions, ‘What’s your desert island beer?’”
He added: “We’re not making any health claims in association with this beer. We are merely sharing our brewing process and the culinary ingredients we chose for the recipe that are rich in alluring aromas and flavours.”
