December in pictures: Hong Kong

Guests at the drinks business Hong Kong‘s Christmas wine tasting, sopping some sakés, festive mulled wine and medal-winning wines from our Asian Masters Series competitions. The tasting also provides an opportunity for guests and co-workers at Metropolitan workshop in Admiralty to network.

Some of the medal-winning wines from our Asian Masters competition series were poured at the tasting. In 2017, the drinks business Hong Kong successfully held six competitions: Asian Cabernet Sauvignon Masters, Asian Chardonnay Masters, Asian Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc Masters, Asian Syrah Masters and Asian Pinot Noir Masters.

On top of tasting some delicious wines, guests had a chance to participate in our lucky draw, where all the proceeds will be donated to the local charity Make A Wish. The guest photoed above had just won a few bottles of delicious bottles, in time for Christmas!

Jay Boberg, co-founder of Oregon’s Nicolas & Jay winery, a joint venture between the music producer-turned-vintner and Burgundy’s winemaker Jean-Nicolas Meo, was in Hong Kong to showcase their latest releases with Watson’s Wine including three single-vineyard Pinots – ‘Nysa’, ‘Momtazi’ and ‘Bishop Greek’.

Valentina Argiolas of Argiolas in Sardinia was among over 90 Italian wineries participating in this year’s Great Wines of Italy event in Hong Kong organised by James Suckling. The vintner showed dbHK the latest addition to the winery’s portfolio, a sparkling wine called ‘Tagliamare’ Brut.

American wine critic James Suckling’s Great Wines of Italy event returned to Hong Kong on a larger scale than before at the Four Seasons Hotel. This year, the Great Wines of Italy Asia tour landed in Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand.

For the first time, Great Wines of Italy Asia expanded beyond Hong Kong and Bangkok to Beijing. Suckling also premiered his latest documentary titled “Great Wines of Italy: Alto Adige’s Vineyards in the Sky”, directed by Hollywood director James Orr. Hong Kong put on a spectacular fireworks show on New Year’s Eve on Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui, where thousands of local residents and tourists cheerfully ushered in 2018.

The drinks business Hong Kong‘s publisher Ivy Ng hosted a New Year’s Eve drinks party at her house, generously pouring guests bubbles from Krug and Perrier-Jouët, on top of some delicious Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from Burgundy.
