CVNE buys Cava producer Roger Goulart
Historic Rioja estate CVNE has bought Cava producer Roger Goulart in the company’s first acquisition outside of Rioja.
Roger Goulart joins Cune, Imperial, Viña Real and Contino in the CVNE portfolio, and will be distributed in the UK by Hatch Mansfield from April.
The brand’s Gran Cuvée Gran Reserva 2011 will be targeted at independent retail and regional wholesalers with an RRP of £20.15.
“We are very excited about this addition to our portfolio. We’ve been looking at wineries outside of Rioja for a while and are thrilled to announce that Roger Goulart will join our portfolio. We plan to keep the historical and cultural legacy of the winery alive,” Cune’s CEO, Victor Urrutia, said.
Founded in 1882 by the Canal family in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Roger Goulart was one of the first wineries in Spain to produce traditional method sparkling wine. Working predominately with Xarel.lo, Roger Goulart’s Cavas are designed for long ageing.
CVNE, which stands for Compañia Vinicola del Norte de España, is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja and remains family owned.
Founded by brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa in Haro in 1879, the company added Viña Real to its portfolio in 1920 and Contino in 1973.
The purchase of Roger Goulart by CVNE happened last year 2017 in April. You’re rather late in publishing this now.
