Building studio constructs tiny $85k house around whiskey still
Indiana-based building studio Carpenter Owl has constructed a 6.7 metre long wooden building, housing a family’s heirloom whiskey still, at a cost of US$85,000.

‘Honey on the Roof’ is described by the builders “as their most ambitious build to date”. Designed to be a holiday home, the house cost $85,000 to construct and is 6.7 metres long, 2.6 metres wide, 4.1 metres high and weighs almost 5,000kg. The name is said to refer to a whiskey recipe.
The antique whisky still is hidden inside a copper-topped table with a 4K Dwarf brand wood stove on top of it.

The house also comes with a spiral staircase, vintage soaker tub on the upper deck, porthole windows, reclaimed wood roof, copper plumbing and cedar trim.
The structure is towable, is clad in walnut and has one bedroom in the loft. On the outside top deck, Carpenter Owl has designed a foldable wooden table, capable of seating four.
It appears the whiskey still will be used for decorative purposes only.
