London bar unveils cocktail and bow tie pairing menu

The Hyde Bar in London’s Knightsbridge has launched a limited-edition menu in which it pairs different cocktails and whiskies with a selection of bow ties and cravats.

We’ve all heard of dressing for the occasion, but Esquire’s style director Teo Van Den Broeke and fashion writer David Evans believe you should dress for the drink. Evans has worked with UK producer Cravat Club to pair their 100% pure silk cravat’s with a selection of whiskies, while Van Den Broeke has paired cocktails with bow ties from Harvey Nichols.

The ‘Attire’ menu, featuring a list of limited edition Macallan whisky cocktails paired with designer bow ties, and Macallan drams with matching silk cravats, seeks to stop you from making drinks-related fashion faux-pas.

The menu includes sips including the Sherry Cask Sour for £18, a blend of Macallan 12 years, lemon juice, Sauvignon Blanc reduction, egg white and fresh grapes, which has been paired with Cornelliani Burgundy silk Bow Tie for £80.

For a more festive alternative, why not try the Flaming Cinnamon (also for £18), combining Macallan Sherry Cask, cacao liqueur, gingerbread syrup, ginger beer and an egg. This is paired with the Alexander McQueen Silk Patterned bow tie for £120. All serves have been created by manager of the Hyde Bar, Sergio Silva.

Meanwhile a dram of Macallan 25 years (for £150) is paired with Hidden Curiosities VIII printed silk scarf (for £160).

Teo Van Den Broeke commented “Whilst I have a more relaxed personal style I do enjoy dressing in premium tailoring for special occasions, the upcoming festive season offers plenty opportunities to dress up. I have really enjoyed pairing the ties to match the cocktails and I am sure customers will enjoy finding their favourite.”

David Evans commented: “I have worked with Jenny from Cravat Club since the brand launched and am known for championing British brands, and love fine whiskies. The Cravat designs and quality are extraordinary and hope this inspires a new generation of Cravat wearers, as they are a beautiful and different option to have in your wardrobe.”

Guests that order from the menu, and are staying at The Park Tower Hotel (where the bar is located), can have their bow tie or cravat hand-wrapped and delivered to their room or a chosen address. The Attire menu will run until 7 January and is available to order from 8am to 2am daily.
