Gin-flavoured cheese proves a sell-out success

A quirky new gin and lemon flavoured cheese from The Cheshire Cheese Company has proved so popular that its makers can’t keep up with demand.

The experimental blend is said to be a “masterful balance of gin and lemons” resulting in “a totally unique and incredibly tasty cheese”.

The cheese features a “gentle balance of slightly sweetened lemon pieces packed into a wedge of creamy Cheshire cheese”.

The “splash of gin” added to it apparently enhances the melt in the mouth sensation. The latest batch is made with Forest gin from Macclesfield.

The wacky blend, packaged in a yellow wax truckle, won a bronze medal at the 2017 International Cheese Awards, beating off competition from over 5,000 entries.

Priced at just £4.75, the limited edition 200g cheese has proved a sell-out success and is currently out of stock on The Cheshire Cheese Company website.

One reviewer described it as “both refreshing and sweet, and very delicious”, while another waxed lyrical, calling the cheese a “superb creamy zingy lemon wonder”.

If you’re lucky enough to get hold of one, the £27.50 six packs come in a wicker basket. The website promises that more cheese is being made this week to keep up with demand.
