Wines from Spain shifts to ‘informal’ format for 2018 annual tasting

Wines from Spain has announced it will change the format of its annual London tasting event next year to create a “dynamic and informal” environment for consumers, producers and vinters alike.

The 2018 Wines from Spain Annual tasting will take place in London’s Sky Garden on 6 March, welcoming both members of the trade and consumers in the heart of the City to sample the country’s modern wine offering in a more informal setting.

The event will feature 1,200 wines from over 300 Spanish wineries and shed light on the ongoing evolution of Spanish winemaking.

Masterclasses and self-pour tastings will take place throughout the day, with the full programme of features set to be announced next year.

This year’s event, which was held at Tobacco Dock, saw members of the UK drinks trade sampling their way around Spain’s 69 DOs and 41 IGPs.

Marianne Rodriguez, Assistant Director at Wines from Spain, said: “We are very excited to bring a new format to the 2018 Wines from Spain Annual Tasting and create a platform which allows us to share the energy and innovation currently found in the wineries and vineyards of Spain.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the trade and press throughout the day and are delighted to team up with Three Wine Men for our consumer event.

“The new format will allow exhibitors to present their portfolios of quality Spanish wines to different audiences and encourage all visitors to explore and experiment within the dynamic Spanish wine category.”
