The Flying Winemaker signs distribution deal in China

The Flying Winemaker, Eddie McDougall, has announced The Wine People as its official importing and distribution partner in China’s Guangdong province for his eponymous wines, Eddie McDougall Wines, making his first foray into the mainland market.

“Our goal in the next 18 to 24 months is to introduce Eddie McDougall Wines into the Greater China market and focus on building a household brand amongst the local wine lovers. Expect to see lots of creative dinners, tastings, pop-up parties and much more,” said McDougall.

Three of his wines including the 2017 vintage of Eddie McDougall Pinot Grigio King Valley, E. McDougall & Co. Rosé Margaret River and 2016 E. McDougall & Co. Cabernet Margaret River, will be available in Guangdong, which borders Hong Kong.

With The Wine People’s established reputation in Southern China, the deal is expected to boost for McDougall’s growing footprint in the region.

Claire Murray, founder of The Wine People, added: “In addition, we both share a great passion for rosé wines and sharing the delights of this rapidly expanding wine category with consumers in China. We are delighted to be starting this partnership and look forward to bring the people of South China not only further exceptional wines but also great wine experiences in conjunction with Eddie and his team. ”

McDougall’s Rosé Revolution campaign this year has just picked up the Best Social Media Campaign Award at drinks business Asian Awards. Earlier this year, he also signed a deal with Netflix to air his self-titled 13-part food and travel documentary series.
