‘First’ Pinot Noir devoted wine shop launched in HK
Pinot Shop Australia, a wine shop that specialises in Pinot Noir from Australia, has branched out to Hong Kong, in particular focusing on cool climate Pinot Noir from Tasmania.
Rob Watt, director and owner of Pinot Shop Hong Kong
The wine shop was launched this week, 18 months after Rob Watt, owner and director the wine shop, first took a sip of a number of Tasmanian Pinot Noirs. “I was completely blown away by the structure and fineness of the wines”, Watt recalled, when speaking to dbHK.
“Cool climate regions like Tasmania are relatively unknown on the Pinot world stage, yet the quality is amazing, alluring and continuing to improve each vintage,” he continued.
“Our aim with Pinot Shop Hong Kong is never to sell huge quantities of these wines as with some of the wines, our allocations are minuscule. Instead, we want to share our passion for Pinot with people who understand what makes a quality wine. I feel Hong Kong is the perfect place to launch with consumers becoming more educated and interested in expanding their palates,” he explained on the motive behind the opening.
Over 45 Pinot brands are available at the shop including Dawson & James, Gala, Home Hill, Nocton Estate, Pooley, Bream Creek and Mewstone that are exclusive to its portfolio.
“Pinot Shop is to become a destination for all Pinot lovers, and although our heart will always be with Tasmanian Pinot Noir, our goal will be continually expanding our range to include other regions,” he added.
