Aldi launches £49.99 wine advent calendar
Hoping to get revelers into the Christmas spirit, discount retailer Aldi has launched a wine advent calendar filled with 24 mini bottles for just £49.99.
The wallet-friendly boozy calendar works out at just £2 a bottle for each of the 20cl liquid treats hidden behind the 24 doors.
db is awaiting details on the wines behind each door, which are a mixture of red, white, rosé and sparkling from France, Italy and Spain.
Among the wines are a Merlot and a Chablis from the likes of JP Chenet and Calvet.
Filled with the equivalent of six 75cl bottles of wine, calendars go on sale on 1 November and are expected to sell out pretty speedily.
News of its release led one Twitter user to hail it “the biggest game changer of 2017”.
Earlier this week db reported that Aldi has released a Jeroboam of Prosecco for £39.99 in time for Christmas filled with three litres of the Italian sparkling wine.
The Jero release came in response to an increased consumer desire to add a splash of theatre to parties and celebrations with larger format bottles.
How to get the aldi advent calender?
Which retailer will be next ?And how many more will follow? I guess after the taste, real size bottles for the 25th Day ,”D Day Christmas” will be up for sale 750ml+.
Will it be available in Spain?
“Game changer”? There have been boozy advent calendars for years. Whisky, gin, vodka, pretty much anything you can put in a small bottle has been put behind a numbered door.
Love this idea!!
