Wines of South Africa to hold charity dinner in HK
Wines of South Africa (WOSA) will be teaming up with importers of South African wine, beef and tea to host a South African wine dinner and charity auction on 5 September in support of charity organisation The Nature Conservatory.
Greg De’eb, director of the historic Crown Wine Cellars and a native South African, will auction off the raffles and wine lots. The star auction lot is a four-course dinner for eight at Crown Wine Cellars together with back vintages mixed case (six bottles), valued at around HK$10,000, sponsored by Crown Wine Cellar and wine’n’things.
The dinner event will offer true South African hospitality and fare: a canape reception including biltong and MCC (Méthode Cap Classique) sparkling wine, followed by a three-course dinner featuring South African beef supplied by Biltong Chief, all paired with a selection of South African wines.
To finish, African coffee and South African rooibos tea will be served courtesy of African Coffee & Tea (ACT).
Michaela Stander, WOSA market manager for Asia, said: “We are proud to be part of this meaningful event. Wines of South Africa shares Moontrekker’s passion for nature and the outdoors as well as TNCs commitment to the environment.
“We are also committed to protecting our natural heritage and our wine producers lead the world in environmental and social sustainability with farming practices that are in balance with nature and programs promoting upliftment of and equality of workers. It’s not just about making better wine, it’s about making wine better.”
In addition to the auction dinner, WOSA will be promoting awareness around Moontrekker via social media. Hikers training for the race are invited to share their training photos with hashtag #MoontrekkerWOSA. The posts with the most ‘likes’ will each win a case of South African wine.
The dinner and auction will be held at Bungalow restaurant in Central on 5 September. The Nature Conservatory is a charity organisation supported by Moontrekker, Hong Kong’s leading night hiking/running event.
