Clos Lanson on pour at Caviar House & Prunier
Champagne Lanson has exclusively revealed to the drinks business that Clos Lanson 2006, its first single-vineyard Champagne, is to be listed at all Caviar House & Prunier venues across the UK.
The Champagne, released in April last year, spent eight years ageing on its lees and a further year in Lanson’s cellars post disgorgement. Made from 100% Chardonnay and vinified in oak barrels for seven months, only 7,870 bottles have been released.
The grapes are sourced from a one-hectare walled vineyard, affectionately known as Lanson’s ‘Secret Garden,’ in the city of Reims and overlooking the Notre Dame de Reims Cathedral. The plot is also home to the Clos Lanson beehives.
Lanson describes the vintage Champagne, with a dosage of 3g/l, as having ‘concentrated fruit flavours, combined with toasted, biscuity notes.’ The finish ‘remains fresh, with an impressive length of flavour,’ according to the house.
Cavier House & Prunier – which also has seafood and caviar bars located in France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Japan, USA, Qatar, UAE and Turkey – has outlets in London in Harrods, Piccadilly, Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and Selfridges.
The caviar and luxury food specialist is recommending that Clos Lanson 2006 should be served with its lobster and caviar. The Champagne will be priced at £295 for a 75cl bottle across all UK sites.
Commenting on the partnership, Champagne Lanson managing director, UK and international, Paul Beavis, said: “We are thrilled that the prestigious Caviar House and Prunier venues will be able to showcase our Clos Lanson 2006 to its customers.”
“They have also chosen to include Tsarine Cuvée Premium Brut NV and Tsarine Rosé Brut NV Champagnes. Our most recent Sommelier Wine Award 2017 for ‘Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year’ is a great honour for Lanson and is positive proof that our well-crafted portfolio of Champagnes are being given the exposure and recognition they justly deserve”.
