Top 10 London Wine Week events
As we enter day three of this year’s London Wine Week, we round up the top 10 must-attend events.
London Wine Week, organised by Drinkup London, this year runs from Monday 5 June to Sunday 11 June. It offers wine loving Londoners and visiting oenophiles the chance to sample special wine flights and food pairings at over one hundred of the best wine bars in the capital and attend one-off events taking place throughout the week.

Summer in the city (7 June)
Unwined, based in Tooting Market, is offering the chance to sample over 20 of its wines in a walk around tasting. An extension of its usual ‘wine after work’ held every wednesday, friends and winos Laura and Kiki will give you the opportunity to try something new.

Sherry Disco Fever (8 and 9 June)
Sack bar in the newly-opened ‘smallest boutique hotel in London,’ The Napoleon, is combining Sherry with disco music this week. Try nutty finos straight from the barrel or a £5 wine flight paired with a selection of the finest Spanish tapas.

Beast with Pol Roger (8 June)
It’s all about the big bottles at Pol Roger’s event at London king crab and steak restaurant, Beast. Try olives and aged parmesan with Pol Roger NV in Methuselah (6l), king crab with Pol roger 2008 in Magnum (1.5l), chateaubriand with Pol Roger 1999 in Magnum (1.5l) and almond semifreddo, warm amaretto chocolate and deconstructed cheesecake with Pol Roger Brut 2006 in Jeroboam (3l).

Vintage Sixteen premiere (9 June)
The world premiere of documentary wine film Vintage Sixteen takes place during this year’s London Wine Week. Shot during the 2016 southern hemisphere harvest, winemakers tell their stories, explaining just what it takes to deliver a harvest and work at a winery all year round.

Wine Car Boot (10 June)
Wine Car Boot, the wine event that lets you ‘taste your way out of the supermarket,’ returns on Saturday with wines to buy, drink-in or take home. Each ‘boot’ is manned by an independent wine retailer with the simple goal of providing authentic, affordable and delicious wines. Founded in 2013 in Hackney, over 30 of London’s wine shops have got on board as well as some English wine producers.

The Ultimate Rogue’s Brunch (10 June)
Regal Rogue Vermouth have joined forces with Anna Hansen at The Modern Pantry to offer the ultimate brunch experience on Saturday. Sip wild rose spritzers whilst nibbling on almond and thyme croissants, Pandan cream doughnuts, crispy haloumi or Anamasala smoked haddock and sea beet kedgeree.

Freixenet Van at Devonshire Square (Now – 10 June)
Spain’s largest Cava producer, Freixenet, is popping up at London’s Devonshire Square, serving its Spanish sparklers from a vintage van, as well as its recently released Prosecco. Available on Ocado and at Tesco, the new fizz was made in consultation with 300 British drinkers to develop the perfect flavour for the UK market.

Drinkup: The Wine Edit (8 June – 10 June)
Drinkup’s own three-day pop-up takes the form of a giant summer wine garden and ‘vineyard’ punctuated by Soul, Funk and Disco music. Serving up grape varieties from across Europe, you can sample refreshing whites from the Loire Valley, rich, spicy reds from Ribera Del Duero, crisp finos and nutty oloroso sherries from Jerez and Graham’s full-bodied Tawny Port, with Wine & Rind providing restorative meats and cheeses.

The Container Argentine Wine Bar (Now – 10 June)
Wines of Argentina will be pouring £5 wine flights featuring wines from the country’s wine regions, from Salta and Mendoza to Rio Negro.

KinoVino: Film, Wine and Dinner (10 June)
Kinovino is a cinema-supper club that combines films, wine and food. Enjoy a rare gem of late-Soviet cinema, Little Vera (1988), paired with traditional Russian dishes and specially selected wines.
