Neil deGrasse Tyson gets his own beer
A North Carolina based brewery is releasing Bier LemonGrass Tyson, a white ale infused with lemongrass and coriander, as a tribute to the famed American astrophysicist.

The beer will be released today on 13 June when Tyson, the renowned scientist and self-proclaimed Belgian beer lover, will speak at the state’s Asheville’s Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, as reported by Brewbound.
“We wanted to make a beer to celebrate science and to honour one of science’s rock stars coming to our town,” says Mike Rangel, president of Asheville Brewing. “We found an online video where deGrasse Tyson talks about beer styles he likes and how much he appreciates local beer. We heard you, Neil, and we made this beer for you!”
The scientist, who became famous for explaining the real science behind blockbuster movies such as Star Wars, had previously revealed his love for Belgian beer when answering a fan question in a National Geographic video.
“I’m a wine guy from way back, but for a while I was really into Weiss beer,“ the astrophysicist told National Geographic. “If there’s a lineup, I’m choosing the Belgian beer unless I’m in some town that has local breweries and they didn’t have to move the beer far to get to the dispenser, [then] I’m having a local beer,” Tyson continued.
Brewed with German malt, Belgian yeast and, in a nod to the Tyson’s expertise, the beer also has a cultivar of hops known as galaxy.
