Mouton Cadet launches rosé for serving over ice
Mouton Cadet has launched its first wine from outside Bordeaux: a Vin de France rosé that’s been made for serving over ice.
Housed in frosted glass, Ice Rosé is Mouton Cadet’s first product made using wine sourced from outside Bordeaux
Called Ice Rosé Signé Mouton Cadet, the wine was first unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival last week, where guests were served the new product from a Mouton Cadet wine bar (pictured below), while the wine was also on show at the London Wine Fair last week.
Housed in frosted glass, the pale pink wine has been made for serving in a large glass containing three ice cubes, according to Christopher Campbell, who is managing director of Rothschild Waddesdon, which represents the UK distribution for all Rothschild family wineries.
He also confirmed that the wine, which is classified as Vin de France, is the first product carrying the Mouton Cadet name that has be sourced from outside Bordeaux.
“We have purposely gone for a wider selection [of grapes],” said Campbell, referring to the freedom of the Vin de France designation, which allows producers to blend grapes from across the nation.

Although Mouton Cadet already makes a rosé, Campbell said that the new ice variant was “lighter and more Provençal” than the current offering, which is a blend of Bordeaux varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (pictured, bottom).
He was unable to confirm the exact source of the wine for Mouton Ice, nor the grape varieties, while he said that the price of the new product would be announced soon.
The rosé comes in magnums and 75cl bottles, and, according to press material released at the Cannes film festival, the product is aimed at millennials.
Ice Rosé is the latest development from Mouton Cadet, which is a brand that has recently undergone a major change.
As reported in March by the drinks business, the Mouton Cadet range has been repackaged to mark the completion of a long term project by the Rothschild family to gain complete control over the wine sourcing for the 12 million bottle brand.
