Albiera to become Antinori’s first female CEO
Albiera Antinori is to take over from her father, the Marchese Piero Antinori, and will become the first female CEO of the family-run company in its 632-year history.

As reported by Wine Enthusiast, Albiera, a 27th generation member of the Antinori family, will take over as CEO next month.
Founded by Giovanni di Piero Antinori, the Antinori family has been making wine in Italy since 1385, when Richard II, known as ‘Richard of Bordeaux’, was on the English throne.
Albiera’s sisters Allgera and Alessia are also both involved in the family business.

“We are a generation of three sisters, so it’s been a generation of women for a few years. Women do have this tendency of seeing things moving along with results over a longer period of time,” Antinori told Wine Enthusiast.
“But in our case, patience is in our DNA. The wine world is a business where the results you expect to see are not in a few years, but in a generation,” she added.
Albiera, 50, has been unofficially at the helm of her family business for some time and is used to having to make decisions that take the past and future generations into account.
“It is important that these decisions are made with the eyes of a generation before and maybe perhaps with the eyes of a future generation also. There has to be respect for the generation after as well as respect for the ones before,” she told WE.
Sounding rather like Theresa May and her promise to deliver a “strong and stable” government, Antinori has her sights set on “slow and solid” growth for the company.
She is not currently on the acquisition trail, with the company already having ventures in California, Washington state, Chile, Hungary, Malta and Romania.
Marchese Piero Antinori, 78, founded one of the world’s best-known ‘Super Tuscans’, Tignanello. In 2011 he opened the Antinori cellar door to the public for the first time in the company’s long history.
