Watson’s Wine takes on China’s Silver Heights

Hong Kong’s biggest wine retailer Watson’s Wine has taken on exclusive on-trade distribution rights of Chinese winery Silver Heights in Hong Kong and Macau.

Three of Silver Heights’ wines including two Bordeaux blends – ‘The Summit’ 2014, ‘Family Reserve’ 2014 – and and a white wine of ‘Family Reserve’ Chardonnay 2014 will be available at Watson’s, selling from HK$378 to HK$438, Alexa Boulton, communications and export director for the northwestern Ningxia winery, told dbHK.

Emma Gao, founder of the boutique winery, commented: “Watson’s was actually the first wine store I ever visited in Hong Kong. I was impressed with their selection, and especially with their very kind and knowledgeable staff. Since then, I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Watson’s Wine, and dreamed of one day seeing Silver Heights on their shelves.

“Now that the day has arrived, I’m very excited for our new partnership. I think that Silver Heights, and Chinese wine generally, has a bright future in Hong Kong and Macau.”

Founded by Emma Gao and her husband, former winemaker at Bordeaux’s Château Calon Ségur, the winery’s first vintage release of 2007 was well received among the trade and international critics.

Its ‘Family Reserve’ 2014 won a Silver medal at dbHK‘s Asian Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2017 held in March this year.
