ProWine Asia 2017 makes debut in Hong Kong

ProWine Asia, the latest addition to ProWein’s portfolio of international wine and spirits trade fairs, has made its debut in Hong Kong, with more than 12,000 trade visitors from 67 countries attending over four days.

ProWine Asia 2017 was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) as part of HOFEX 2017, Asia’s leading food & hospitality trade-show, and was jointly organised by Messe Düsseldorf China, a member of Messe Düsseldorf Group, and UBM HKES LTD, which hosts HOFEX.

The event saw 310 exhibitors present from 21 countries, including France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Austria, South Africa, Cyprus and United States.

35% of the total 12,184 trade visitors came from outside of Hong Kong, predominantly from southern China, Macau, Taiwan and the Philippines.

The next ProWine Asia will next be held in Singapore in 2018, before returning to Hong Kong in May 2019, when it will be expanded to fill additional hall space.

“Many exhibitors from our international trade networks have placed expansion in Asia-Pacific as priority,” said Marius Berlemann, global head of wines and spirits of ProWein and Messe Dusseldorf.

“ProWine Asia’s development across both major trading centres of Hong Kong and Singapore offer pivotal connections to generate new business for our exhibitors. We are very pleased with initial feedback from participants at the Hong Kong debut this year.”

The event featured seminars and guided tastings chaired by experts including Jancis Robinson OBE MW and Debra Meiburg MW.

Future dates

The next ProWine China will be held on 14-16 November 2017 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), while the biennial ProWine Asia will be held in Singapore on 24-27 April 2018.

The next edition of ProWine Asia Hong Kong returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), with additional hall space in Halls 3F-G, on 7-10 May 2019.

ProWein Düsseldorf is held annually and will next take place from 18-20 March 2018.
