Krug goes ‘Into the Wild’ with Francis Mallmann
Champagne house Krug has hooked up with revered Argentine chef Francis Mallmann on a culinary festival in the Hampshire countryside called Into the Wild.
Argentine chef Francis Mallmann is known for his open fire cooking
Taking place on Saturday 29 July, Mallmann will headline the evening of theatrical, open fire cooking in the chef’s first consumer event in the UK.
In addition to the open fire feast, Into the Wild, held at 18th century heritage site The Grange, will feature musical performances and lashings of Krug.
The evening will flow across three areas moving crowds through the Palladian building and grand auditorium out onto the sprawling lawn and down to the lake, culminating in an open-fire feast cooked by Patagonia-born Mallmann.
Using sand pits, trenches and dome-shaped frames, Mallmann and his team will smoke, roast and char locally sourced meat, fish and veg across the three sites within The Grange, pairing each dish with a Champagne from the Krug portfolio.
“Krug embraces food and taste, from roasted embers to hung dome roasting, matching the elegance of a charred scallop and the deep complex roots of well-aged beef. The event this July will encompass our shared values of choice, spirit, friendship and passion,” said Mallmann.
“Francis Mallmann embodies the Krug spirit of a refined maverick. His simple and elegant approach to luxury mirrors that of the Krug house perfectly. We are delighted to be working together on this project”, added Olivier Krug, director of the Champagne house.
Running from 4pm until midnight, tickets cost £395 per person or £750 for a pair.
