Bordeaux flutters into town this summer
Vins de Bordeaux is to host its first pop-up wine bar in London this summer, offering consumers the chance to try the regions wines from sparkling wines to reds.
The ‘Butterfly Bar’ (named after the region’s distinctive advertising campaign) will run from 12-16 June and will be located at Finsbury Avenue Square near Liverpool Street.
Open daily from midday to 9.30pm, the bar will be serving 36 different wines, eight fixed for the duration and the other 28 on rotation. They will include the region’s famous red wines but also white, rosé and crémant, available by the glass or carafe.
In addition, each day will feature four, 15-minute, “speed tastings”, led by experts who will guide consumers through five wines (a white, a rosé, a crémant and two reds). Taking place at 1pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm, tickets cost £5 but must be booked in advance through EventBrite. Experts will also be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and help and encourage consumers to find and try new wines.
“We are very excited to be opening Bordeaux’s very first pop-up bar in London this summer,” says François Jumeau, marketing director of the Bordeaux Wine Council. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase and celebrate the diversity and affordability of Bordeaux wines to a young professional crowd who might not automatically choose Bordeaux.”
