Week in pictures: Hong Kong

Hong Kong has seen an eclectic week in the drinks trade, including a visit from Bernard Magrez, a tasting of Arran malts and exploring the Yarra Valley’s fantastic Four Pillars gin range.

Bernard Magrez, the owner of Pape Clément, was in town to launch his new Bleu de Mer range of wines to Hong Kong and Macau, via veteran Hong Kong wine company, Wines Link.

Anne Moreau of the BIVB welcomes everyone to the annual Chablis White Party as part of Bourgogne Wine Week which was held in Hong Kong last week.

Ewan Henderson, brand manager for the Lost Distillery Company officially launched the range of whiskies in Hong Kong and led a tasting at the Cordis Hotel. 

In collaboration with HK Beer Co, Cathay Pacific has created Betsy Beer, specially brewed to be enjoyed at 35,000 ft, using a delicate and more aromatic hop, the delightfully named Fugglehop from Kent. 

Lucie Stroesser, the export manager for Arran whisky, led a tasting and masterclass for Hong Kong’s whisky lovers in the lead up to the annual Hong Kong whisky festival. New expressions explored included the limited edition Bothy, the 18 year old and the single malt Madeira finish.

A fabulous array of Sicilian wines, Tasca d’Almerita as part of an introductory wine lunch exploring the historic estate which dates back to 1830.

Forcefully making his point that Australian gin is THE best, Stu Gregor from Four Pillars in the Yarra Valley introduces the full range at the Continental which included the Bloody Shiraz steeped in Shiraz grapes for eight weeks, the Barrel-Aged, Navy Strength and the classic Four Pillars Dry Gin.
