NZ Pinot pops up at ProWein

New Zealand Winegrowers will once again be pitching up at ProWein, this time to shine a light on the increasing diversity of New Zealand Pinot Noir.

Following on from the Pinot Noir NZ 2017 conference in Wellington last month, NZ Winegrowers will be looking to woo visitors to this year’s show, which will run from 19-21st of March in Dusseldorf, by showing off the diversity of the country’s Pinot Noir via a programme of themed tastings and seminars.

Wine writer Jamie Goode will host a seminar on organic Pinot Noir while Madeleine Stenwreth MW will lead a tasting of the 2014 vintage in the ProWein Forum. Finally Anne Krebiehl MW will host a seminar exploring the regionality of Pinot Noir.

In addition, at the end of the day on Sunday and Monday, the New Zealand stand will host a Pinot hour where visitors can drop by and sample a range of Pinots on stand. Other seminars hosted on the stand include a session on the diversity of Sauvignon Blanc and aromatic varieties with Jamie Goode.

“New Zealand hosted a very successful Pinot Noir event in Wellington last month and we want to bring some of the excitement around New Zealand Pinot Noir to Europe,” said Chris Stroud, marketing manager, Europe of New Zealand Winegrowers.

“We are delighted by the strong interest in New Zealand wines from international markets, and we believe the show provides a great opportunity for our producers to explore new export opportunities and capitalise on the increased demand.”

New Zealand wine exports reached a record high of $1.60 billion in 2016 year, up 5% on 2015, according to New Zealand Winegrowers, with New Zealand wine now exported to more than 90 countries.

The New Zealand Pavilion, in Hall 9, Stand D38, will host 40 producers, with around 200 wines available for attendees to taste from eight of New Zealand’s key regions.
