Jamie Oliver chef gets top spot at Kitty Fisher’s
George Barson, a senior sous chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, has been made the head chef of celebrity favourite Kitty Fisher’s in London’s Mayfair.

Devon born Barson cut his teeth at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage in Devon and has chalked up stints at the two Michelin star Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Nuno Mendes’ Viajante, which resided in the Town Hall Hotel.
Among the dishes on Barson’s first menu are Devon crab with smoked crème fraiche and pickled rhubarb; and Ibérico pork with hispi cabbage, apple and garlic.
“George’s appointment starts a new, extremely exciting chapter for the restaurant. His enthusiasm is infectious and he’ll lead our kitchen brilliantly,” said Kitty Fisher’s co-owner Oliver Milburn.
The restaurant was opened by Milburn and friends Tom Mullion and Tim Steel in 2015. The same year it was voted 16th best restaurant in the UK at the National Restaurant Awards.
Having received glowing reviews from the late A.A. Gill and Fay Maschler, Kitty Fisher’s soon become a celebrity hotspot attracting the likes of Nigella Lawson and David Cameron, who flocked there for its signature dish: Galician beef.
The Shepherd Market restaurant is named after an 18th century courtesan who had her portrait painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Red lights hang in the bar in her memory.
