Cognac Frapin VSOP’s new look
Cognac Frapin VSOP’s new decanter was revealed at ProWein on Monday, with stocks available in the UK from April.
The new glassware is reputed to take its inspiration from Frapin’s VIP XO decanter. The bottle is taller and narrower than the original, with different detailing on the neck and stopper.
Frapin is the largest single estate in the Grande Champagne region of Cognac, the name ‘Grande Champagne’ deriving from the similarity of the chalky soil to that in Champagne. The Frapin family’s history dates back to 1270 and the estate now owns 240 hectares of premier cru vineyards.
The VSOP is aged in Limousin oak barrels adding complexity and spice to the aromas and flavours of orange, dried flowers, vanilla and cinnamon, according to the producer.
Cognac Frapin VSOP currently retails for around £55 in the UK and is imported by Louis Latour Agencies. The new decanter will only be available in the 70cl format.
