Black Pearl to lead Bonhams sale
A magnum of Rémy Martin’s Louis XIII ‘Black Pearl’ Cognac in a Baccarat decanter will headline Bonhams’ next London fine and rare sale.
To be held on 6 April, the magnum – numbered 342 of 358 – is expected to realise £25,000 – £35,000. Another bottle of the same Cognac, also in a crystal decanter, is estimated at £12,000 – £15,000.
The sale will also feature numerous rare lots of fine wines including Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Clos de Tart and Domaine Leflaive.
Also on offer is a “strong” consignment of Pétrus including a magnum of the 1953, a bottle of 1961 and 11 bottles of 1981.
First growths are represented by five cases of 1971 Lafite and Mouton Rothschild from 1986 and 2005.
Other fine wines on sale include: two bottles of 1959 Salon and another eight of the 1971; a double magnum of 1999 Louis Roederer Cristal; seven 12-bottle cases of Bollinger’s 2002 Grande Année; seven bottles of 1923 Vega Sicilia; two dozen 1963 Fonseca and a dozen1966 Taylor’s.
Bonhams international head of wine, Richard Harvey MW, said: “This sale of over 500 lots covers a wide spectrum from great Bordeaux and Burgundy, via Champagne, Port and Cognac, to Spain, Italy, California and Australia. There is something for every taste and pocket.”
