Ryan Nightingale wins Chivas Masters HK
The beloved bartender of Aberdeen Street Social, Ryan Nightingale has won the regional heat of Chivas Masters 2017 in Hong Kong.
Each hopeful had to create three new drinks that were inspired by classic cocktails of New York, blended with local regional ingredients, and paying homage to Tokyo which is where the Chivas Masters finals will be held for the first time on 6 July this year.
Canadian bar whizz, Ryan Nightingale beat the eight other entrants and impressed the judging panel with his Top-Up, Noble Bean and Moshi Moshi tipples with Noble Bean being the overall crowd pleaser.
Noble Bean was an artful blend of Chivas Regal, soy milk, Tempis Fugit creme de cacao and light soy sauce served up with a large ice cube.
The tough judging panel included Serhan Kusaksizoglu from Shangri-La Hotels; Agung Prabowo from Mandarin Oriental; Masahiki Endo from Mizunara: The Library; Maximilian Warner, Chivas international brand ambassador and Frantz Hotton, managing director of Pernod Ricard for Hong Kong and Macau.
Nightingale will travel to Tokyo in July for the global final with other regional winners. The overall Chivas Masters finalist will also have the opportunity to visit any bar of their choice to work alongside some of the world’s best bartenders.
Whisky lovers will be able to taste Nightingale’s Noble Bean cocktail at the second Hong Kong whisky festival on Saturday, March 4 with Nightingale manning the Chivas pop-up bar and highlighting two new Chivas expressions, Chivas Extra and Chivas Ultis.
Noble Bean will also be available at Aberdeen Street Social until the end of the year.
