Wake up and smell the lavender – Cigalon

Provence is the vibe here, with interesting Corsican Vermentino and Nieullucio thrown into the mix alongside a smattering from the rest of L’Hexagone.

With 12 or so wines by the glass – and even a Corsican whisky – it is easy to delve into a liquid journey of discovery into these regions.

All of Cigalon’s food menus are available with a wine pairing, which will tend to showcase lesser-known producers, some of whom are exclusive to the venue within the UK.

Cooking, by Marseillais head chef Julien Carlon, ranges from crisp and summery Niçoise Salad, to rare onglet with spring onion mash. You might even try the very impressive rib of Camargue bull with charred aubergine purée and ratatouille on the side.

Finish with a delightfully indulgent Café Gourmand with a petite glass of Gros Manseng to keep it company, followed by a game of pétanque in the group’s Baranis bar below.
