Kim Woodward leaves Savoy for Skylon

Kim Woodward has left her position as the first ever female chef of The Savoy Grill to Skylon on the Southbank where she has been made executive chef.

In April 2015, Woodward was named head chef of The Savoy Grill marking the first time in the restaurant’s 126-year history that a woman was at the helm.

She will start her new role as executive chef of modern European restaurant Skylon, owned by D&D London, at the end of February.

Woodward will take a seasonal approach to ingredients, sourcing the majority from the UK and Europe.

“The quality of ingredients available across the UK and within Europe is unrivalled, and we are lucky to have such amazing choice so nearby,” she said.

“Skylon is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river Thames, I couldn’t help but take a shine to this exciting venue.

“D&D London is one of the UK’s most progressive hospitality businesses and I look forward to this next phase in my career with the group,” she added.

The Cheshire-born chef has chalked up stints at the Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, the Boxwood Café, Gordon Ramsay Plane Food and York & Albany.

Skylon was the first restaurant D&D London opened after launching in 2006.
