Ex-Artesian pair join new Singapore venture

Roman Foltán and Carla Davina Soares, formerly of London’s Artesian Bar have headed east to launch a new gin-focused bar, Atlas, in Singapore.

Due to open in March, Atlas is in Singapore’s Parkview Square building – also known as Singapore’s ‘Gotham City’ because of its imposing Art Deco façade – and will offer all-day drinking and dining, including the world’s ‘most diverse’ gin collection.

Selected by Master of Gin, Jason Williams, the range will include 1,910 London dry to modern craft gins from newer regions, many of which have come straight from the distillers or tracked down by gin enthusiasts.

Manning Atlas will be ex-Artesian staff members, head bartender, Roman Foltán and Maître D, Carla Davina Soares who both trained under the tutelage of Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale and together helping the Artesian scoop the title of ‘World’s Best Bar’.

Beneath the bar will also be a rose gold walk-in ‘Champagne Room’ with some bottles personally donated by the owners of Parkview, the Hwang family, as well as rare back vintages of some of the world’s biggest Champagne houses.

The kitchen will be helmed by ex-Tippling Club chef, Daniele Sperindio, who will offer modern European dishes throughout the day, including the staple Singaporean foodie event, the afternoon tea.
