Chef Vicky Lau to open new patisserie, Poem
One of Hong Kong’s best-loved chefs, Vicky Lau is to move her acclaimed Tate restaurant to a new location on Hollywood Road which will also house her second venture, Poem Patisserie.
Known for her eclectic Asian and French cuisine, named ‘Edible Stories’, Vicky Lau has claimed hearts around Hong Kong’s dining scene, ever since she opened the 26-seater Tate Dining Room in 2012 in Soho’s Elgin Street.
Her signature dish, the Zen Garden is a dessert, presented as a miniature garden with matcha opera cake, passion fruit marshmallow, jasmine macaroon and coconut dark chocolate.
The new spacious 3,800 square foot location on Hollywood Road also marks the launch of Vicky’s new venture, Poem Patisserie on the ground floor which is due to open in March.
Having been a graphic director for a number of years, Vicky was inspired to tap into her lifelong passion for food and enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu to obtain her Grand Diplome.
Following her stint at Le Cordon Bleu, Vicky officially embarked on her culinary career and was soon working at some of the most acclaimed kitchens in Hong Kong, including the Michelin-starred Cépage where she gained a strong reputation as one of Hong Kong’s rising chefs.
Tate was awarded its first Michelin star in 2013 and Vicky was also named as Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2015.
