iDealwine toasts 24% growth
Online auctioneer iDealwine saw its sales grow 24% by value in 2016 with nearly 100,000 bottles of wine sold.
Over the course of 26 auctions, including one charity sale, the auctioneer sold 97,413 bottles worth just over €11 million (when excluding fixed-price sales, the total rises to €14.4m when these are included).
Bordeaux and Burgundy dominated the most-expensive lots sold although the number of Burgundian lots increased slightly at the expense of Bordeaux.
The only other notable lots from outside this duo of regions were 1961 Hermitage La Chapelle from Jaboulet and vintage Champagne from Krug and Cristal.
In fact, at €13,320 the bottle of 1961 La Chapelle was the most expensive single bottle sold by iDealwine during 2016.
