Expansion for Trivento as UK sales rise
Bodega Trivento in Argentina is expanding both its vineyards and cellars as the latest figures show continued growth in the UK.
The Mendoza estate recently acquired a new 200 hectare plot of land it intends to plant largely with Malbec (around 100ha) and the rest with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and other varieties.
In addition, construction work is currently underway to expand the winemaking facilities (pictured). Due to be finished by the end of March this year it will allow the winery to handle a further two million litres bringing its total capacity to over 30m litres.
Meanwhile, the company recorded both volume and value growth in the UK over the course of 2016.
In a statement Trivento said it had experienced value growth of 43.6% to £27.8m and volume growth of 40% to around 369,000 nine-litre cases.
Brand manager, Natasha Erlandson, said: “These latest figures are very good news, and show how strong the Malbec wave continues to be. From a grape which was languishing outside the Top 20 less than four years ago, it is now on course to be a Top 10 variety, and two million cases of Malbec sold per year in the UK is very much in sight.
“We have some exciting brand and product plans for Trivento for this year which we hope will see the brand continue to build on its #1 status.”
