Bar High Five’s Bar De Luxe opens in HK

Ueno Hidetsugu, the man behind Tokyo’s famed Bar High Five has unveiled a new outpost in Hong Kong called Bar De Luxe.

The new 1.500 square foot Bar De Luxe will be helmed by Yuriko Naganuma, who trained under Takao Mori of Tokyo’s Mori bar before going on to shadow Ueno Hidetsugu in Melbourne and Tokyo.

One of Japan’s most famous bartenders, Hidetsugu has picked Naganuma to run his new bar which has opened as part of men’s tailoring and grooming outlet, Attire House on Wyndham Street.

Naganuma has created cocktails especially for Bar De Luxe, including The Hidden Gem with Nikka From the Barrel Whisky, Japanese Yomogi herb liqueur, Averna Amaro and sugar syrup and her Black Negroni which uses Bulldog London Dry, Carpano Antica Formula and Fernet Branca.

While normally resident in Tokyo, Ueno will also be in Hong Kong from 23-25 January to host bartender evenings at Bar De Luxe.
