Pierre Mansour named head of buying at Wine Society
Pierre Mansour has been appointed head of buying at The Wine Society in place of Tim Sykes, who will step down from the role next year.
Pierre Mansour has been promoted to head of buying at The Wine Society
Mansour, who is currently buying manager at The Wine Society, will take up the position on 20 March next year.
Sykes, who is presently head of buying, announced that he would be giving up the role in September after five years in the position because he wanted to pass on the managerial aspect of this job so he could focus on selecting wines for the Society.
Mansour has been with The Wine Society for 13 years as a buyer and then buying manager, most recently responsible at The Society for the major areas of Champagne and Spain.
Before he joined The Wine Society, Mansour worked for Vinopolis and Berry Bros. & Rudd, having begun his career in wine at The Antique Wine Company, which he joined in 1995.
Robin McMillan, CEO of The Society, said “The head of buying is a key position at The Wine Society and this appointment follows a robust recruitment process with a good deal of interest from both internal and external candidates. So we are naturally delighted to see Pierre, a senior member of The Society’s existing buying team, successfully come through and be appointed as head of buying and join the executive team. We are equally delighted to be retaining the considerable experience of Tim Sykes.”
Sykes became head of buying at The Wine Society in March 2012, taking over from Sebastian Payne MW, who has stayed on as part-time buyer for the mail-order merchant.
Before he joined The Wine Society, Sykes was buying director at Enotria.
