Top Black Friday (and Christmas) deals

With Black Friday tomorrow and the retailers firmly in Christmas mode, we round up some of the best deals they are offering on booze.

As we reported earlier this week, Morrisons has led the charge on Black Friday deals with its ‘Black Five Days’ day bonanza on magnums and beer kegs, but the sales have been hotting up all week with independents and online retailers getting also on board.

Tesco may not be targeting booze as part of its wider Black Friday deals, but it is offering wines 25% off a six bottles in store, as well as an ongoing £10 off a bottle of Lanson Black Label. There are also deals on its dedicated Wine-by-the-case site.

Meanwhile WaitroseCellar is using the day to reward its customers with Champagne – for orders over £100, you bag yourself a bottle of bubbles – which becomes vintage if you spend £250, or a magnum for spending more than £500. That’s definitely a step up from a free coffee in store!

Sainsbury’s

Meanwhile Sainsbury’s has now revealed more detail of its 25% off for 6 bottles or more which is valid in store in England and Wales and online until 4 December.  The 12-day offer not only covers all wine, champagne, sparkling wine, sherry & port but is also applicable to wines already on promotion, giving customers the opportunity to bag some series bargains. So its Winemaker Selection Blanc de Blanc, with the double promo applied, could be snagged for the equivalent of £12 bottle, while Châteauneuf du Pape Perrin et Fils 75cl at £85 for a case of six makes it £14.25 per bottle. Having already knocked 25% off a bottle of Prosecco, buying a case of six would take the multi-deal price to around £5 per bottle, with a magnum of its Taste the Difference Prosecco Conegliano lowered to around £11.63 if bought as a case of six on promo, down from £19, while Taste the Difference Rioja is lowered to £4.50 .

Lidl’s

Lidl’s latest Wine Cellar promo, it’s Christmas Cru (see what they did there?) has also been launched to time with Black Friday – and it is offering a £4 saving when you buy four Wine Cellar Wines. But it is the weekend’s offer on Champagne that offers the bigger deal – the discounter is selling 6 bottles of its own label Comte de Senneval Champagne for £50, subject to availability – making it around £8..33 each, or £9.99 individually.

Meanwhile Aldi is offering six bottles of bubbles – two bottles each of its Vintage Blanc De Blanc, Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut and the new crisp Chalk Valley English Sparkling Wine, for £89.94 (around £14.99 per bottle), as well as a cheese lovers’ case of six for £52.54.

Majestic

Majestic if offering 25% off its entire range of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs and Riojas, from single bottles to entire cases – and promising to match the price if customers find a lower one anywhere else. Offers last until Monday 28 November. The retailer is also raising the profile of its newly revamped online service which now includes named and next day delivery – under the tagline ‘ Any wine, antime, anywhere’

Virgin Wines Rioja’s around the Christmas Tree

Virgin Wines has yet to reveal its Black Friday event, but Rioja and Sauvignon Blanc is also a focus for the online retailer. As part of its Christmas count down, it is currently offering a £38.50 saving on a 12-bottle mixed case of Rioja, £25 off a 12-bottle case of selected Sauvignon Blanc, and three different ‘Christmas In a Box‘ selections with around £36 – £57 pounds off.

Avery’s

Virgin isn’t the only online player counting down. Avery’s is now on day four of its 24-hour 12 days of Christmas offers, with a one-off parcel of fourteen year old claret. Previously it has offered deals on Pinot Noir and a stonking £64 saving on a selection of its champagnes – and the daily offers still has eight days to run.

Corks Out

Chester-based independent and online stalwart Corks Out also has a range of deals running until Monday, from saving £30 on six bottles of Ayala Champagne (which, being owned by Bollinger, shares characteristics with its older cousin at a fraction of the cost), £48 off a case of 12 Chablis Fournillon and cutting £16 off a Laurent Perrier Ultra Brut gift box to £41.99. It’s not just the liquid – it has deals on present for wine-lovers too, knocking £10 off the Vinturi Dulux Wine Aerator,

Roberson Wines

And although it is not in honour of Black Friday or Christmas, independent online retailer Roberson Wine’s anniversary offer of 25% off 25 wines for the next 24 hours is worth an honourable mention, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.   Among them is one its best-ever reviewed wines, the new vintage- Bergström Old Stones Chardonnay from Oregon, down 25% to £20.99.
