New book celebrates Islay distilleries

A new, beautifully-illustrated book has been published to celebrate the whiskies of Islay and Jura, and the islands that shaped them.

Called Whisky Island, the hardback book profiles all eight active distilleries on Islay, and contains over 180 photographs, some of which can be seen below and over the following pages.

The book has been written by Fiona Rintoul and Konrad Borkowski and has been published by Freight Books, which is currently Scottish Publisher of the Year.

Fiona Rintoul, who is an award-winning novelist, translator, financial journalist and whisky enthusiast, provides a background and history to the islands and their distilling, as well as tasting notes on the main malts and blends.

Konrad Borkowski, who lives on Jura, provides the photographs, documenting each distillery at work through the seasons.
