Giusti launches Rosalia sparkler to HK market
The venerable Italian estate, Giusti Wine, has released its single-vineyard Rosalia Prosecco DOC to the Hong Kong market, positioning it as “affordable luxury”.
Catching up with dbHK during the Hong Kong Wine and Spirits Fair, Giusti’s export director, Sebastiano Bonomo described Hong Kong as a “perfect opportunity” for Rosalia with the city’s dynamic wine scene and gap in the market for inexpensive premium wine.
Rosalia DOC is Giusti’s only single-vineyard Prosecco which is hand harvested and hails from a 12 hectare site in the lowlands of the Piave Basin in Veneto. Dating back to the mid-1900s, Tenuta Rosalia’s neatly planted rows of Glera vines is known as Giusti’s ‘garden’ vineyard.
“Sales of Prosecco are blooming everywhere,” said Bonomo, “and Rosalia offers the best of Veneto at an affordable price. Prosecco doesn’t need too much discussion – it’s about having a spontaneous wine moment where people just want to have fun but still drink high quality wine.”
Owned by the Giusti family, Giusti has roots dating back to 1600s and owns 11 vineyards spanning 108 hectares located inbetween the hills of Montello and the Piave river in the heart of eastern Veneto, between Treviso, Asolo and Venice. As well as Prosecco DOC and DOCG, the estate also produces still red and white wine covering DOCG, DOC, and IGT classifications, a sweet Passito Bianco IGT and a grappa range, Acquavite.
Rosalia is available in Hong Kong via Red Mill Ltd and Beta studio, with an RRP of HK$200.
“It will be a long term partnership with Red Mill,” said Bonomo. “We’ll concentrate on Hong Kong and Rosalia for now but there’s definitely potential for our other ranges to be represented too.”
