db launches Global Merlot Masters 2017

the drinks business is now taking entries for its first Global Merlot Masters – a blind tasting competition of Merlot from around the world that seeks to recognise and reward the very best examples of the grape.

U nlike other international competitions, The Global Masters series is judged by grape variety rather than country. Every wine will be judged blind on taste and the skill of its winemaker, without prejudice of origin, with only its price bracket and proportion of Merlot in the blend revealed.

All Global Masters are judged blind by a panel of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers only, with the best competing wines awarded medals from Bronze through to Gold, and ultimately “Master” for exceptional examples.

We will only accept wines that are at least 75% Merlot, with the deadline for entries 16 December. Each entry carries an administration fee of £140.

The results and analysis will be published in the drinks business magazine, online, on social media and also in db‘s Hong Kong edition.
