McGuigan launches its first Australian Malbec
McGuigan Wines has added its first single varietal Malbec to its Black Label range, offering an Australian take on a classic Argentine variety.
First showcased at London’s Meatopia and On Blackheath food festivals, McGuigan’s Black Label Malbec joins its Black Label range, which also includes a Semillon, Merlot and Pinot Grigio.
“We are very proud to have created our Australian take on Malbec, the McGuigan Black Label Malbec offers a lighter, easier style but still fantastically suited to red meat dishes”, said Neil McGuigan, McGuigan Wine’s chief winemaker.
“It’s exciting to be adding a great quality wine to the increasingly popular Black Label portfolio, and the first time we’ve released a Malbec into the UK market.”
McGuigan Black Label Malbec will be available from November in Morrisons and other retailers, at an RRP of £7.
The release came as parent company Australian Vintage issued the second profit warning in four months, on the back of falling Sterling and Brexit currency woes.
