Man has ear sliced off during Oktoberfest
A man has lost his ear during a shock knife attack at Oktoberfest this weekend.
The 45-year-old victim was reported to be attending the festival in the central German town of Wolmirstedt over the weekend, and reports in local news source Volksstimme stated that he became “separated” from his ear during the early hours of Sunday morning following a scuffle.
The attacker is said to be an unnamed 29-year-old man, though police, who have since launched an investigation into the attack, are reluctant to comment on the extent of the victim’s injuries.
Oktoberfest attracts an estimated six million visitors every year, but this time around they have seen security heightened following a series of terror attacks across the country earlier in the summer.
Organisers and authorities have come together to construct a large metal fence around the perimeters, while large bags have also been ruled out and an increased presence of security cameras are ensuring that the majority of incidents are caught on film.
