Kim Jong-un ‘drank 10 bottles of Bordeaux in one night’

The latest feat attributed to North Korea’s “beloved leader”, Kim Jong-un, is that he once drank 10 bottles of Bordeaux in one night.

As reported in the Independent, Kim’s former sushi chef, Kenji Fujimoto, recently told South Korean network KBS that the North Korean premier has a particular taste for Bordeaux.

Fujimoto recalled an evening where Kim dined with six attractive women and drank expensive claret while boasting he had drunk 10 bottles of Bordeaux in one night just days before.

Fujimoto claims to have catered for the Kims for 13 years before fleeing back to Japan in 2001. He has since made a career writing books about his previous employers.

Although the 10 bottle claim maybe the latest in the long line of outlandish claims made about Kim Jong-un – who earlier this year apparently invented a “hangover-free” alcoholic drink – his taste for expensive food and drink is well documented.

Imports of alcohol to the hermit state reportedly doubled to £20 million in the early years Kim’s premiership and imports of Champagne saw an appreciable leap when he came to power following the death of his father Kim Jong-il in 2011.

He is said to be a heavy smoker with a penchant for Swiss cheese and his rich diet has been credited with making him so obese that after a long series of visits while wearing Cuban heels he fractured his ankles, as well as giving him gout, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Less jovially, he is also said to have signed the death sentence of two officials while drunk and when another official was executed after being caught drinking wine during the official mourning period for Kim Jong-il.
