Christie’s HK announces first online sale

Christie’s has launched its first online auction, ‘Discover Bordeaux’, which features ‘affordable’ lots including First Growth verticals from a single private collector.

Highlighting classic back vintages which can be drunk now or for kept for further cellaring, Christie’s first online sale in Hong Kong presents a classic round-up of Bordeaux which have been shipped from Bordeaux City Bond directly to Hong Kong.

Lots comprise mixed wines out of the original wood cases from different Châteaux, communes and vertical and horizontal vintages, including Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux and Haut Brion.

Christie’s have deemed the sale as a “rare opportunity for buyers to increase their knowledge, as well as gaining immense drinking pleasure and tasting experiences in all occasions from various Bordeaux vintages in one purchase.”

The top five lots to watch include:

  • The Masterpiece Collection which features 15 bottles of Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, Haut-Brion, Margaux and Cheval-Blanc estimated between HK$38,000 – HK$55,000 (US$4,700 – US$6,900)
  • Mixed Saint-Émilion and Pomerol 2004-2006 which features 8 bottles of  Angelus, Cheval-Blanc, Pavie, La Mondotte and Clinet estimated between HK$14,000 – HK$22,000 (US$1,700 – US$2,800)
  • Important Moment which features 11 bottles of mixed Bordeaux and Sauternes 2003-2006 including Cos d’Estournel, Pontet-Canet, Léoville-Las-Cases, La Mission-Haut-Brion, Pavie, La Mondotte, L’Eglise Clinet and d’Yquem estimated between HK$11,000 – HK$17,000 (US$1,400 – US$2,100)
  • Mixed Saint-Émilion and Saint-Estéphe 2005 which features four bottles of Cos d’Estournel, Angélus, Cheval-Blanc and Pavie estimated between HK$8,000 – HK$12,000 (US$1,000 – US$1,500)
  • Celebration Moment which features 8 bottles of  Pichon Lalande 2003, 2004 and 2006 and Léoville-Las-Cases 2006 estimated between HK$5,500 – HK$8,000 (US$700- US$1,000)
