Two decades of Disznoko reviewed
Earlier this month Tokaji producer Disznoko celebrated the 20th anniversary of its acquisition by AXA Millèsimes with a vertical tasting in London.
Held at 28-50 in Mayfair the tasting featured five and six puttonyos aszu wines dating back to 1993.
AXA Millèsimes’ managing director, Christian Seely, has been closely involved with the development of Disznoko since its purchase stated that the aim of the tasting was to demonstrate how far the estate has come in the past two decades.
Disznoko’s managing director, Laszlo Meszaros, led members of the trade through the tasting which also included the single vineyard ‘Kapi’ wines from 2005 and 2011 and some aszu Eszencias from 1999 and 1997.
At the end of the tasting, attendees – including Jancis Robinson MW, Neal Martin and Olly Smith – voted for their favourite wines with the 1999 six puttonyos, 2002 five puttonyos and 2011 five puttonyos coming out on top.
