New on Wine List Confidential: Frenchie

Frenchie – Wine List Confidential Score: 92.6

We’re liking this. We’re liking this a lot.

The sommelier team of Bastien Ferreri (formerly of Hibiscus and Murano; the buyer and restaurant manager here) Jonathan Raggett (ex of Clove Club) and Julie Barbero (Hibiscus) can be relied on to take you on a proper vinous journey.

Loads of good gear available by the glass via Coravin and 375ml carafe. Interesting that an English wine – Hambledon Classic Cuvée – is the most expensive sparkling BTG.

Around 10 icons are listed BTG, on top of which there is a lively list of accessibly priced wines you’ll find hard to choose from – Riesling from Saar supremo Peter Lauer (£6.50), centenarian-vine Carignan from Domaine Vinci (£8.50), Terra de Cucques skin contact Muscat and PX blend from Terroir Al Limit in Priorat (£11.50), biodynamic claret from Margaux estate Clos du Jaugueyron – the list of intriguing offerings goes on.

A section of white and red ‘World Wild Wines’ will please the natural wine geeks – Testalonga El Bandito, Patrick Sullivan New World Wine, Broc Cellars Love Red – while as far as orange wines are concerned, this may well be viewed as the motherlode, containing as it does Gabrio Bini’s Zibbibo and Sepp Muster’s Erde.
