Miquel Hudin receives Geoffrey Roberts Award
The 2016 Geoffrey Roberts Award has this year been given to wine journalist Miquel Hudin, who is writing a new book on Georgian wine.
The award was founded in 1996 to commemorate Geoffrey Roberts, a UK wine importer who championed New World wines, and comes in the form of a travel bursary.
It is granted each year by the Vintners’ Company to an individual judged to be making a positive difference to the promotion and understanding of New World or emerging wine regions.
Hudin is currently in Georgia conducting research for the book which will become part of his ‘Vinologue’ enotourism series. The book will extensively cover the different wine regions, grapes, wineries and wine styles of Georgia.
The book is set to be released next year and can be supported on its Kickstarter page here. The first book in the Vinologue series, on Dalmatia, was released in 2008.
A book on Priorat was released in 2013. Now in its second edition it was named ‘Best European Wine Book’ at the Gourmand Awards and also drew praise from Jancis Robinson MW.
