‘Fabulous’ Almaviva 2014 released
The 2014 vintage of Chilean fine wine, Almaviva, has been released with an almost 20% increase in price on the 2013.
The 2014 was released with a price of £800 per dozen, 19.4% above the release price of the 2013, which is currently available for £750 a case.
Both wines have a similar score of 97 from James Suckling, the critic describing the 2014 as “fabulous”.
He went on: “A wine with wonderful blueberry, blackberry and hints of cedar and spice. Full body, dense and beautiful fruit. Chocolate, walnut and berry. It goes on for minutes. Better in 2020 but gorgeous now.” The wine is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Carmenere, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It was aged for 18 months in new French oak.
Like its fellow Mouton Rothschild-inspired cousin in Napa, Opus One, it is being released through La Place in Bordeaux.
